April 6, 2016: SavingTeens is happy to share another successful outcome in our drive to fund families with adolescents needing residential treatment. Once again, a team of philanthropic Educational Consultants and Programs, working with our volunteers at SavingTeens, has made the difference for a family in need. Everyone’s efforts are sincerely appreciated.
Marilyn Engelman, a longtime partner and board member of SavingTeens, referred the family for consideration. The young man presented with anxiety, drug use, and additional risky behaviors, and was refusing out-patient treatment. After the boy’s stay at a therapeutic wilderness program, the involved professionals unanimously recommended placement at a therapeutic boarding school. Following discussions with Dr. Engelman and SavingTeens, Summit Prep School offered a partial scholarship, thus making a transition to therapeutic boarding school possible.
The generous discount from Summit Prep School, along with a scholarship from SavingTeens, is providing the opportunity to access long term treatment. Summit, an early supporter of SavingTeens, responded quickly to support this deserving young man. The parent has praised Saving Teens for “helping save her son and helping her son understand how important it is to complete school and receive the therapeutic support he needs to be productive.”
This family marks SavingTeens’ fourteenth funded family in the last year. We are so very thankful for our amazing and responsive partners who have made this possible, and we look forward to expanding our work in the coming year.
